    Yes, but are three solid and one blinking?

    Ah yes. Reminds me of my time in a Cardassian interrogation centre.

    @irene
    LoL first person to get it.

    I was worried there weren't many people who'd recognise this around... 😕

    @FuckJava I think that TNG was one of my main influences for working in tech. I found it interesting that the show wasn't about tech but all of the complex systems were there to support human interaction.

    This is it was actually borrowed from George Orwell's 1984. O'Brien asks him over and over again while torturing him how many fingers he is holding up. Until he admits that he sees five when only four are held up.

    @irene reading your comment I had a sudden image of DS9/TNG's O'Brien torturing someone like 1984's O'Brien...now that was weird.

    @irene I could actually imagine "Smiley" (mirror universe dude) maybe considering doing that, but he was still rather nice there too.

    I loved that they chose to expand Miles O'Brien into a main character in DS9, worked out really well. I would say he's my favourite chief engineer character (but then I'm biased towards DS9 anyway).
