    @010001111 because they change the characters and I don't see the point. Characters are supposed to be readable, not look nice or something.

    Think of it this way:
    If ligatures didn't exist, Fira Code and alike font wouldn't either.

    I love them, makes the code so much more readable.

    @Codex404 Not for me.. Why do we have monospaced fonts in the first place? Because every single character has a meaning and monospaced fonts make them more clearly distinguishible. Ligatures just diffuse the code in my opinion. but luckily we can all use the fonts we like.

    @simulate I couldn't agree more. Same goes for emoticon vs emoji (I prefer the former)

    The code is only visually changed, the source remains the same.

    Some ligatures are awful and are for being "pretty", others only affect symbols and make ===, == clearly different.

    Not all ligatures are equal.

    @C0D4 Oi, we're in 2020, you just can't say that! All ligatures are born equals and have the same opportunities.
