Recipe sites are the absolute aids.

Ad covered, half the time they feature some bullshit story nobody cares about, and it takes ages to scroll through them.

Fuck this is bad.

Its wierd when someone here complain about ads

In my experience, that's mostly American websites. I could link you some in French if you want :D

What are you trying to make, by the way?
  • 2
@sweetnothings probably doable but that's a lot of filtering to remove enough bullshit but still leaves some content in place.
  • 2
@C0D4 ah, good morning, I see you wear a black suit now

Also, recipes online are bs by definition, because they contain a lot of uncertainties and some very subjective views on cooking

@Jilano I'm tryna find some recipes for a good buffalo sauce for my chicken wings. UFC fight tonight means we need wings and alcohol. It's the law.

@hack in my defense it's on my phone.

Tried setting up a pihole but couldn't quite get it set up

Eurgh, tell me about it, even with the ads removed.

Tempted to create a "nobsrecipes.com" site. Who's in?

I usually scream "WHERE THE FUCK IS THE RECIPE ALREADY". Five minutes later I find it and realize maybe I should just look in a cook book instead.

Also, a couple of years ago, it became a trend to create recipes around bacon, and lots of it. Which is turn has spawned a lot of bogus recipes. I am not a chef or anything, but even I can recognize that recipes are overdoing it. They are not designed to taste good, they are supposed to generate clicks and ad revenue. A proper chef or cook would laugh their faces off if they ever saw them. So yeah just look in a cook book. No ads, mostly proper recipes, quality controled, straight to the point, not expensive and works as decoration.

Check out Paprika 3. It filters out the ingredients and directions. It works pretty well too.

@M1sf3t that's basically the same recipe Im using minus the sweet baby rays (makes my mouth drool just thinking about that glorious sauce lmao)

@sweetnothings yea that's true. It's even easier to buy premade sauce lmao just tryna make my own and see what I like

The BBC has a section of their website dedicated to collecting recipes - and since it's a government-provided service, it is not allowed to have ads.
It is surpringly clean and light.
(Still some tracking scripts though, but they can be easily blocked with ublock)

@M1sf3t sadly I've gotta fry them and just roll em in sauce. I don't have access to a grill at my apartment.😭

I'm pretty sure these sites are a driver now for having a cook book. I mean, cook book, $20, unintellible ad interruption, $sqrt(-1).

@endor that's a really useful link. Thanks for sharing.

@vomitmachine yea but my meals are all over the place. Like one minute I'm looking up sauces for a wing and the next it's how to cook some sorta ethnic food.

I'd probably lay $20 for access to a digital cookbook that's just a shit ton of recipes in an app.

@Stuxnet That has to exist already. There's no way that can't exist. Something without ads where you just have access to a database of recipes.
  • 1
@vomitmachine most likely does. Just gotta dig deep

That or suffer through the bullshit and curate my own db of recipes

    Looks like others agree

@Stuxnet if you run ublock and all those fun extensions Allrecipes.com looks fairly reasonable. Some of the recipes even give you nutritional facts. But mobile options suck. I've never seen a mobile option that isn't loaded with ads.
  • 2
Yep. The fact that the recipe is buried under 10 pages of "story about my life" is the most irritating. Bitch I don't care, tell me the ratios so I can get on with my own damn adventure.

    @Frederick
For real. You wanna know what being a cool mom is? Both my kids got into good universities, and are solid at math and will have no issue supporting themselves. All the vegan bandaid whole grain organic free range bullshit Mason jar salads in the world don't mean shit if you've raised helpless adult-children that can't function in society.

I may or may not butt heads with other moms on parenting styles on occasion.

@M1sf3t last time I made them I just fried em and rolled em in the sauce and let the sauce sit for a few mins and soak it. Was enough for me lol

So, my life recently changed for the awesome. For years I was happy with my cayenne pepper+honey+butter+garlic sauce.

Then I discovered oil+fat based wing sauce. And my life is forever changed.

    https://foodnetwork.com/recipes/...

Just leave out the habanero and jalapeno, add 2tbsp sesame oil and a quarter cup grapeseed oil.

@SortOfTested looks good I'll try it next time!

I don't have half the ingredients, so I'mma just roll with what I've got this time and go from there lol

Honestly wanted to make just a Wordpress site to post recipes with simply the instructions and images of the completed thing, but I’ve got too many side gigs now :(
