You should give freecodecamp.com a try.

@philcr stop just stop. Period. Save your $20 for something useful. U can learn about computer science any topic any freaking subject from internet .mostly u will get from Khan accadmey or Mit open courseware.if u are talking about some frameworks then nothing beats documentation and "trying to figure out" how it works. All you need is a ' computer' that's it.

@anekix I haven't spent it I was just curious if anyone has and whether it's worth the spend. Having spent the last 18 years as a winforms / micro controller Dev I thought I should pick up some web skills. I do read stuff on the web but having a structure helps some documentation is aimed at people who have a grasp of the framework / api not beginners

I say, start with the free portion of Codecademy and then if you feel like you need more lessons and quizzes then you can pay the $20.

I used nothing but the free version a few years ago and it helped me get started very quickly. But don't forget to try to make your own projects afterwards. Practice makes perfect!

In my experience any monthly subscription for beginning learning programming is not worth the money because there is always something else that's free and probably better. Save the money for when you know a bit more and can spend it on more advanced stuff you can't get for free

Dash General Assembly have some good free courses, with a nice presentation, like codecademy.

But I seriously doubt that subscribing to any of these sites would help much. They are good to give you a general idea of gow things works, and then, it's better to get some free tutorials, articles, and everything you can chew that's from pro's of this field over the internet, to learn how they work.

The problem is, codecademy, codeschool, and similar sites don't teach you the best practices, or how to tackle a real project, how to apply mvc in webdevelopment, etc.

That's why we reccomend to avoid spending money with them.

    Good luck with your studies!
