I'm going to try to switch over to Linux (dual-boot at first), but I've been trying to figure out which distro to use. Any suggestions?

Also, if you have any tips for me, you can leave them in the comments too

Linux mint - If you like windows

KALI - If you are a Wild Beast

Try to use a virtual machine first. Download some popular distro and try it out in vm. Then if you like one a lot then dual boot it.

Depends on how experienced you are and what you want to do. If you want an easy to use experience use something like Ubuntu or Mint. If you want to learn all aspects of Linux use Arch Linux.

The first distro I dual booted (excluding Kali) was Linux Mint. Was certainly relatively easy to install and get used to.

Arch if you have time and want to learn a lot about Linux in general, plus have a very stable and functional system with lots of packages in the end.

I'm new to Linux and use Linux Mint. Haven't had any major issues yet and it is fairly straightforward.

@varundey Are there any resources on this? Obviously a very large undertaking, but I would be interested in researching it a bit.

@FJPackard I don't have extensive knowledge about it either, but I once read that Suse Studio helps you create your own Linux distro in a gui way. You might want to Google it

@parag0 Agree! Switched to Antergos few weeks ago from Debian, and I love it!

If it is for domestic use, then go for Linux Mint. Else go straight away for Kali.

Well if you are not too familiar then use debian based (i hate debian based distros) after a while when you get used to cli then go to something better, like arch based (why not arch) if you are good with manual installation and stuf then go for arch and why not give a try to slackware, i liked it to be honest but i find thigs are way more faster a'd easier and without error or problems in arch. Oh! And don't use Ubuntu, it's a piece of shit.

Whatever you pick, I recommend KDE for your desktop environment.

I use Kubuntu and KDE is just 👌
