    Calling vim ide in 2017... Nah bro, not even close. Even with tons of plug-ins

    @alkuzad seems to work great for lots of people. Just because it's not your cup of tea...

    @alkuzad I meant, IDE noobs who haven't used a text editor.

    Or you could just be a pleb like me and use nano and don't worry about it

    @Eqb8 nano is a gift to mankind 💚

    Vim vs emacs is a holy war. Both sides don't know why they are fighting, or who's winning, but they are, and they will continue to fight for no apparent reason. Even tough clearly vim is superior. :P

    @corscheid it does no mean that it's ide. Ide has built in project management, versioning, debugger with nice stack /variables hints. I use sublime and vim but I never call them ide, just advanced text editors.

    @alkuzad vim without plugins is def not an ide. After all the plugins that allow features of an IDE, it's closer. Probably not 100% IDE, but like 89% IDE

    @Synth-Synapses WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?!

    but i like vim also but i don't really give a damn if you use emacs or vim either way you're better than people using nano

    @alkuzad well by that description vim can be an ide cause of its plugins

    Using a modal editor makes me feel like I'm driving a car that requires you to stop in order to shift gears.

    Exir vim is the only thing i know how to do on vim. Fuck vim, use nano.

    Honestly, I used to use nano exclusively. Then I bit the bullet and forced myself to use vim just to learn it. I honestly couldn't tell you why I went with vim and not emacs. I don't have a good reason for vim over emacs. It just ended up being what I was more comfortable with so I stuck with it.
