    @ScribeOfGoD what is the difference?

    @linuxer4fun one is free af the other one is free but not af

    Basicly gitlab is github but with the "main" selling point i free private repos unlike github, with the ability to host your own private remote git server.

    And the buzz thats been going on is that they made a mistake, 310gb of data got deleted, they went back online, and thats it.

    @Revenger would you recommend gitlab to github?

    Gitlab is like github. Or bitbucket or any other git like online repo service.

    Personally still recommend gitlab. The fuckup was big but their service has been very reliable for me and free unlimited private repos are a big plus if you ask me

    @Revenger sry, wrong. GitLab is a product used to selfhost a git frontend on your own servers. It is basically GitHub with a lot more features and on your own servers.

    Also, the devs are hosting an own instance of this product. And they fucked up their db. Also, their hosted version is slow due to the massive amount of users.

    But: The main selling point is the product and selfhost NOT their hosting.
