Yesterday Ibdid buy an iPhone. I did it to learn swift development and people started to tell me that it was stupid.

I know I could have just used my emulator on my Mac but I just do not want to, testings apps is better in their real envieonment

I hope you guys understand my point, I am getting tired of all this "you stupid iPhone owner" shit

PD: I regret nothing

It's a great idea to have a real device if you are going to develop for a mobile OS. Try to not fall on the temptation of jailbreak it: most of your users won't do it. Buying a "latest model" is a good idea if you can afford the investment and you take care of it. A cheaper/older version is OK too, as long as it's one with a nice market share.

Real devices > simulators. Especially on iOS. The simulator doesn't even allow you to test vital hardware functionality like the camera. You're totally right to have the hardware.

If you can afford it there's nothing wrong there. I'm making an android app (beginner lvl) and there is no android phone in my house. We're all using windows phones, and the emulator is shitty beyond belief. I have to send apk file to my cousin or girlfriend every now and then just so they could describe to me what i need to know...oh, the pain
