Anyone using Psiphon?

Can someone give me an ELI5 on what it is and how to go about it?

    It's a vpn
    That comes with ads unless you pay for it.

    which is interesting given that the privacy policy says "Psiphon is committed to protecting the privacy interests of its customers, end users, distributors and suppliers"

    Just use Nord or ProtonVPN 🤷‍♂️

    @C0D4 Ironic. But it seems that Psiphon gets its way through most censorship (as they claim it).

    And what guarantees Nord or Proton are not logging you?

    @Floydimus nothing.
    Although the same can be said about any VPN.

    Proton being the same company as ProtonMail, I'd give them a better bet over this bunch. I mean, this lot just admitted on their front page they have some kind of MITM going on to serve you ads.

    @C0D4 aren't self hosted VPN better?

    @Floydimus if they're secure and you don't log anything, and the host doesn't log anything either... then sure, but you still have some company or companies in the pipeline, At the end of the day It's a game of trust, unless that VPN server is in a basement you own in multiple locations in the world, your still playing the trust game with someone.

    @C0D4 well yes. There's nothing 100% anonymous or private.
