I should not have my master control plane placed at OVH.
I should not have my master control plane placed at OVH.
I should not have my master control plane placed at OVH.

    Meh, everyone has problems now and then. 100% uptime is impossible.

    @Linux you are network engineer at OVH, right? Nice try mate Lol

    Happens.

    The important thing is that it's not a *regular* occurrence, and there's a decent post-mortem to understand what went wrong and how you can put multiple things in place to make sure it never happens again.

    @Linux are you still living in 2000? What about high availability? Yep for sure it won't reach the 100% but 99.99% at least. As an example: have a look at the downtime rates of DE-CIX...

    I thought my brain was fucked.

    But reading this rant I discovered a new dimension.

    @pkhairkh

    Ah you are new into the IT field and does not know networking outside your tiny home network

    🤪

    And no, I dont work there. But I have worked long enough to realize that everyone can go down. Despite how much resilience you have

    @Linux that's it bruh. Cheers...

    @pkhairkh

    Well, since you are using the term HA in this case proves that you dont understand the scale of OVH ;)

    Have fun learning!

    @Linux thanks mate. Glad you are here to help...

    Aaaaaand a large portion of Azure went down this night (CET).
    I am pretty sure that they have "HA" in place ;'D

    @linux Good boy you are. You want treats?

    @pkhairkh

    No I am good, thanks

    I recommend you to keep calmer - I know people and also you might probably be stressed. However this is not a challenge... And of course I'd be happy to learn from you in fields where you are master at craft. Don't take things too serious. Life is short... You don't have to prove to me that you are more experienced than I am. Also do I feel sorry for you if Azure interrupted your svcs. Many greets from my tiny home network (•â€¿•)

    I am actually calm, that is something that I have learned to be during the last years.
    I actually dont have anything in Azure, but almost everything in our own DC.

    The only experience that I have that you dont have - is that everyone goes down. Nothing is 100%, except that beer and rum is nice.

    @pkhairkh I'm now nice.

    Instead of being snarky yourself and then start finger pointing, ask the right questions.

    Downtime rates of DE CIX...

    You know that DE CIX and OVH are two different entities?

    Like pears and apple entities? Your comparison made me giggle to be honest.

    Regarding your rant... You can have your master node wherever you want.

    For high availability, it is always advisable to ask the hoster where the (server) nodes are _physically_ located.

    Eg. Hetzner has 3 locations. Distribute backups, primary -/ secondary nodes on all locations, then you are in almost all cases safe.

    ... A lesson many people learned the hard way when one of OVHs server centres burned down and they had backups and nodes stored in the same location...

    If you have questions, ask.

    If you wanna be snarky, expect to get paddled.
