Well, so far I've only ran into software related issues. HP seems to be pretty durable as well, but probably not near as long as think pads. Speaking of laptops, my Dad's HP dv7 broke after 5 or so years of using (was even still working for a while with screws keeping the screen together xD ) and now he needs a new laptop, know any good laptops in the $400 range? Mainly which is durable with a large screen? (His only two requirements)

I'm thinking about getting a refurbished T520 right now. It's actually supposed to be a birthday present more or less. I'm just worried that it might break quickly, but seeing as how they're supposed to be durable, I might give it a go
