Not a rant... But I have a question guys...
I am currently a student in 2nd year of college.
I have been using and learning C++ since like 4 years now and it is my truely favorite language. It just is a joy to work with. Tried others but couldn't handle them (no offense. Just a personal preference) so here is the question:

What should I do in future? Like which field would be most enjoyable?

Currently, I feel game programming is it... I do enjoy whatever puny game like thing I make way more than anything...

I also specifically enjoy creating backend stuff...
(I always end up creating mechanics for working of game engine but never creating the actual game... Like creating an asset manager or something but not using it).

By backend stuff, I mean something which requires me to think a lot as to how can I implement something and then implement it (again, in C++). And then another developer could make use of it.

I heard game development has a very low scope for growth and is very very tedious... Is it true? What route should I go to?

Edit 1:
Btw, I enjoy building stuff from ground up, although ofc that doesn't happen haha...

If you are a game dev, then you might have heard of denuvo anti tamper company, just Google it and join them as an intern, look what possibilities you can get in that space, then go for Ubisoft Montreal (if interested, because denuvo is good in my guess)

@sam9669 M not really a game dev.... Just a enthusiast right now who likes to play around with gane tech and build some rickety rackety thing haha...
And denuvo is an anti cheat software company... Not really a game development studio...
My point is, should I actually look forward to being a game dev? And if so, what knowledge do I need to have which I can learn while studying so I know atleast something when I send my resumé?
I just wanna learn and create stuff... Especially which helps me in the future to become something I actually wanna be... :)

@Electrux see security is a good field right now, now add that with your 4 years plus of c++ and interest in game dev, applying for an intern position will do no harm but help you focus more in your passion, the more you indulge in it, the more focused and clear path you have about your career. Even game dev studios look for major in c++ (it is just what my friend told me, they might also look for something else) but for starters denuvo's site mentions great in depth knowledge of c++, which in this case, is in tour favour, you will have a great experience and a clear vision about your career, so I say apply for it as an internship.

@sam9669 actually, I can't... M in India... No Denuvo here and most of the internships revolve around web, android, etc. Extremely rare to find something related to gaming if I by luck find something... :/

@Electrux just gotta arrange for room, they might help you with that, just saying "no this" and "no that" won't help. I'm from India as well, just send them an email and a resume, link to git if have one as well.
