I think the reason I hate the terms "programming" and "program" (the verb) is because it's so commonly misused. Also I found people to less think of me as an hacker when saying that I am a coder rather than "I am a programmer".

I respectfully, but completely disagree. In my experience, 'coding' and being a 'coder' are overused buzzwords that people like to throw around to sound cool or attract attention. Those words are honestly starting to annoy the hell out of me.

Being a programmer is a very clear thing, you write programs. There's no ambiguity there and I can't see how any would come about.

It's interesting to hear that you've formed the complete opposite opinion though. I think most of the media I see throws around words like coder and coding as much as possible, and that's why they're becoming these mainstream buzzwords.

@Fydrenak Well, I don't care about what media thinks, but most people think of "programming" as something "hacky".

@filthyranter I agree that a lot of people might mistakenly think that. But what I can't see is that those same people would think 'coding' ISN'T hacky.

@Fydrenak Well, for some reason, they aren't suddenly scared. That's a sign.
