You're right, a lot of de's look like garbage. On the other hand there's KDE plasma and other GUIs that are plainly gorgeous

@dontPanic I'm not fan of KDE but AT LEAST they made their DE modern and probably useful. I may not be a fan of them because of performance or setup, but plasma doesn't look like it's taken from ancient caves

@Torbuntu the problem is that some - especially Linux devs - think that the more "fancy" "sticking out" "weird" gui they make the better. But opposite is true (in my opinion of course, the whole purpose of customization is to choose for yourself). A good UI is minimalistic, elegant and allows you to focus on your work, while having a consistent style.

I've recently fallen in love with the Adapta GTK theme, although Arc is pretty good too.
Messing up my XFCE themes to make them look flat and simple (TBH I kinda like the Windows 10 look, and feel like most GNU/Linux themes have stopped somewhere in the 2010's.
