Not python, but I started working on a Java (Spring-Boot) Project some days ago, that exposes HTTP Endpoints to interact directly with the vboxmanage cli application. I wanted to release it on GitHub. I can send the link if you are interested in it.

The native SDK for VirtualBox (at least for Java) is a complete pain imo.
