Aww shit tahts a problemo...

fucking stackoverflow makes me feel like a dumbass..sometimes.

Here's how I feel about asking questions:
• If it's something easily answered, I should have figured it out
• If it's something I overlooked, I should have looked more carefully
• If it's messy, I should have cleaned it up first
• If it's something that's actually very dificult to solve/answer, nobody is going to bother. Ever. and the question will go unanswered.

I never let the first three happen -- people don't get to see anything of mine that isn't high quality -- so my questions almost always end up unanswered :<

@Ashkin completely understand how you feel. I end up answering my own questions. And then some bozo will come along, copy my answer and get more upvotes because answers are listed by most recent date.

However I feel that writing the question makes me really consider whether it is worth asking, and by the time the question is finished, I've either got an answer or it's worth asking (rubber ducking, I guess)

@qbalsdon no? If you tell which answer is the best one it will be on top.

@Codex404 I haven't seen that, but maybe I'm wrong then. All I know is I killed myself to get 2k reputation and then kind of hit a glass ceiling (good citizenship can only get you so far, the rest is answering and upvotes). Nearly at 2.5k though...

I asked a question yesterday about some bash magic that I could not figure out and I got two answers in a matter of minutes. I did not get any down votes, I’ve never gotten a down vote for like 5-7 questions. If you ask a clear and non duplicate question you most likely will not be down voted.

@zshh unless you make one typo. I made two questions with a typo. One got 10 downvotes, the other 4. Both had comments that the typo I made was making the question unreadable. Removed the question and reposted it with the typos fixed and i got upvotes instead.

The typos where something like using "their" instead of "there" and "od" instead of "or".

Stackoverflow is toxic.

@Codex404 well if it made people not understand your question you should’ve quality checked it better.

Look at it like this, your question might be searched for by thousands of people. Wouldn’t you feel annoyed if you found a question that could help you but you didn’t quite understand it because the author didn’t check the spelling? It’s documentation. Don’t you want documentation that you understand? I’m sure I do.

I don’t think it’s toxic, it’s not a community for being nice, it’s a community around quality content.

@zshh really a single typo in a question with code samples and an overview with:
- What do I want
- What Have I tried
- What went wrong
- TL;DR

Ive seen questions with a lot less useful informatoin where the answers are basically guesses on what the OP wanted. If you didnt understand that question then you would probably be an idiot. English isnt my first language and I did let a colleague of mine proofread it.

I made a typo above here btw. If you thought this typo made my whole post unclear then I know that it probably got downvotes because it was unclear. But a person with half a brain would still understand what I have said here.
