The iPhone is only good for consuming apps, that's it. If you want to use it for anything else, good luck.

Its keyboard is miserable.

Its browser is the new IE.

If you connect to a share folder, at random you lose all networking and you have to restart the phone.

You don't reliably get notifications so good luck explaining to your boss or client or girlfriend why you didn't reply back for hours.

Once the battery permanently dies, you're just expected to spend another $1k for the privilege of this suffering.

It took over 25 edits to get to this point in the message. I had to restart this status symbol 3 times in the last 24 hours in order to restore its ability to communicate. It is agony to use this substandard pile of garbage and it has objectively made my quality of life worse in the 18 months I've had it.

It's an iphone 12. I bought it new from the store. I thought Apple only intentionally made older phones unusable through updates, but this has been unusable since the beginning.

I get frustrated with my android. I want to edit a simple image? The default programs won't even let me paint a square. If I want something better I gotta get an app that costs more than its worth or is filled with ads and microtrans. So I end up not using it for more than a phone most times. Powerful super computer in my pocket with shitty support software.

Give me a decent Linux phone and I will dump this shit for good. Been watching Pine Phone and every time I check it says: not ready to be used as a phone.

Have you tried talking to a "genius" or whatever? (Oh the irony of that name)

@Demolishun Every day I miss my S8 more and more. I'm to the point where I miss the Tracfone Nokia I had in 2010 that had T9, Snake, and a replaceable battery. At least I could reliably communicate with it.

@NoMad Every Apple person I share any of this with says "works on my machine lol". They totally refuse to believe that I and a swathe of other people have problems with their beloved multinational corporation's product. Brand evangelists are the worst. It's not like your adoration gets you anything.

    lol. i'm the opposite.
    I only use the browser.

Only use apps that are necessary for work or if the web app forces me to use an app.

    Apple hardware is top notch.
It’s actually no wonder their hard team does light years better than their soft team.
And they shit a design decision every morning.

Their keyboard sucks. That's for certain. The swipe gesture only works on English words. I have to type conventionally for other language. Gboard's swipe gesture works for multiple language since ages ago!!

@-red they sure do shit a design decision every morning!

@daniel-wu and let's talk about the magic mouse with the genius USB port under the mouse...or the pencil way to charge it plugging into a USB port right away. (No time to find pics, they'll give better idea)

I found a new insult that this garbage heap has for me.

When I dare use a share drive and the the phone completely stops being a phone, any messages I try to send before I restart are sent to the void. They are just not in my messages anymore.

@cuddlyogre yeah it sucks more day by day but I constantly use samba nas in files app and haven't had any problems apart from sporadic need to eject and reconnect. What type of shared drive do you connect?

Actually it is true that if files app bugs down you have to restart the phone to fix it 🤷🏻‍♂️

At least settings app doesn't freeze anymore 😅

Also not that it's a remedy but latest ios version is better than previous ones but definitely not as good as ios 12...

both systems are shit, but in all honesty I have never had any of the issues you've mentioned on an iphone. If anything I have had more issues with Android and I change drivers constantly.

Also, it is not like you cannot install different browsers on both systems. Just learn your nuances and work with them ffs.

    @AleCx04

    >Also, it is not like you cannot install different browsers on both systems.

Everything you use on iPhone is a skin of Safari.

As for the reason my phone stops being a phone when I use Samba shares? I have no idea. I wish I knew because having to restart my phone several times a week is a drag. Unexpectedly not receiving or sending messages has made this thing into a liability.

What is the more likely choice of words in normal conversation?

    "do" or "doo"

    "in" or "inn"

    "and" or "ave", "Ava", "ABCS"

    "milk" or "lube"

The ios keyboard and autocomplete are an absolute joke.

    @cuddlyogre

    "milk" or "lube" wtf? lol

@Demolishun Oh, that's just a small sample of the endless irritation the unusable ios keyboard causes me.

The entire Apple ecosystem seems designed to fight the user. I equally hate using my work Mac, but I only have to deal with that occasionally, so I get a break from it.

It makes it an absolute chore to communicate with people. It makes it an absolute chore to use the web. It makes it an absolute chore to send work emails.

Not only is the autocomplete garbage, it will delete previous words in the message that you actually want to keep if you reject its suggestions.

It doesn't weigh words based on how likely that word is to be used. It doesn't keep track of words you use most often. It just pulls words at random from a list of words sorted by most_inappropriate asc, rarity asc, rand()

Using it is agony. And due to work constraints, I have to use it.

@cuddlyogre I had to turn off all the "help" on android phone. I hated the interference.

@cuddlyogre interesting, never thought about the browsers being forced to use webkit as a skin of a safari, but I can see where you are going with that.

But still man, I have 0 issues with things like Brave or Firefox in the damned thing. I do agree with you, but I believe both systems are absolute shit.

And yes, the autocomplete on IOS is dogshit

I have had Android for a long time, so I can say that it is trash, it takes a long time to load all files and it is simply impossible to work with it. Then I bought an iPhone and it's just heaven and earth, everything loads so fast, I have an iPhone 11 and I don't understand your complaints.

@cuddlyogre ideal time to drunk-text, just saying.
