Kinda tired of people telling me that I'm "wrong" for using PHP. There's nothing inherently wrong with PHP. Any language is only as good as the developer using it, and so long as you're comfortable using it and it does what you need it to do, there's no shame in using ANY programming language. Don't let the these cocky "bro"grammers tell you how to do your job.

If it's good enough for Mark Zuckerberg, right?

    I agree. I like PHP.

my friend always says "use the right language for the right job" if the right language is PHP who cares?

Some people will get snobby about anything. "Right tool for the job" should always be the mantra, and one of the factors is always developer knowledge/experience. If PHP will get your job done cheaply, efficiently, with quality and leave it easily maintained, it's a good choice.

My shit code runs fast and does what I tell it to do. Keeps a roof over my head, beer in the fridge and a wife in a different room, thank fuck for PHP!

people almost always dont even have their own opinion. they say they hate a language because they gear other people say they hate who also only say they hate it because they heard someone say they hate it. except for Java... everyone hates Java lol

@itsmill3rtime This is very true. As a full-stack web developer I hear people shit all over Javascript a lot... I love Javascript haha

I like JavaScript- never used PHP and like everyone else, I hate Java and Oracle

"So I says, blue m&m, red m&m, they all wind up the same color in the end."

@fuckfuckityfuck the reason why he used it was because it was the best way to reach the most amount of users back then. He even says he would have preferred going mobile. Now if he were to build FB again he would probs build native or use NodeJS or django, def not PHP

PHP is forever my favorite language

It might be your favourite language, that's fine. But your feelings don't make it a good language. It is empirically a bad language. That said, I find it to be my most used language when writing for web!

But don't be closed-minded, not implying that you are one.

Experience using other languages and paradigms, they will let you see problems in many ways.

I don't like PHP, but if it's works for you, that's great. It's ecosystem has made up for all it's issues.

I deleted my previous comment as it sounded sort of harsh.

It really doesn't matter what language you use these days. All languages have some quirks. Create microservices using docker and you really can use the right tool for the job.

Most programming languages are only a good as the developer using it...
