At my job in the past week there have been at least one 1 hour-long meeting every day with today hitting the record with 3 meetings.

This is fucking insane. I signed to a developer job, not a guy-sittimg-and-listening job.

Let me guess, you work for a 150+ employees company with at least 3 levels of management which they call "flat structure"?

Count yourself lucky, my previous job was 15h of meetings, 10h of agile ceremonies (somehow those were not meetings) and what's left of 40h week was (attempting to) work usually in blocks of 30 min between two meetings.
