breakthrough moment

just realized, when reading english books; my brain makes a conversion to my native langauge.

and instead doing conversion, if I articulate the information in the english language itself, I seem to understand better.

and even faster! Same thing is valid for speaking too. If you could stop thinking in your own language, your speaking will be so much better.

my brain has an english mode and my native language mode.

when interacting with a language, it uses the appropriate mode and formulates as well as understands thoughts and concepts directly in that language, no conversion.

also, the "native language mode" has become kind of strange over the years, oftentimes i find myself writing first half of the sentence in my native language and then switching to english mid-sentence, in a way that the grammar of both fits and joins flawlessly.

language is fun. brains are fun.
