@possum I'm not necessarily unwilling to learn a new framework in the same language as one I've been using, I just find it a bit annoying to be constantly bugged by recruiters with React jobs. Maybe I should just spell it out, "NO REACT, GO AWAY" lmao.
If I desperately wanted the job, I'd take it if offered and learn React. I'm not desperate, and I just don't want to learn React. I'm not always sure that the recruiters know the learning that would be required. I know plenty of folks who come from Angular and won't touch React, because they don't get it for some reason. -
Ahh I remember my lecturer from a C++ course in university recommended this site. Good stuff. I also have that famous design patterns book which I haven't read yet >.<

What a strip club looks and smells like.

@usr--2ndry it's MBTI personality types.
-
the project manager I have to deal with has no fucking clue about my project. They constantly ask me the same questions I just answered, I update my tickets, they tell me to rephrase constantly. I know why it is like this, clashing personality types. INTJ vs ESTJ. Constant fucking power struggle lmao

@ars1 Yeah I've worked with WP for a couple of years on and off and it always left me feeling empty and miserable and reconsidering my career. I've migrated some WP sites to Statamic CMS and my clients are happy, I am happy, so I would avoid any WP work, unless the salary is, like you said, 3 times higher than what I currently make.
WP can be a fantastic thing, IF handled with care. I've used it in headless mode with Nuxt and it was fine. I just don't think it's fair to start a new job and rock the boat, just because I like working with it in a particular way. -
@jiraTicket Yeah, I talked to the PM, she said the job would mostly involve building custom WordPress themes and sometimes maintenance on client websites. They're a super small team, only about 4 people, including a designer.
-
@AleCx04 I agree, however I've worked with WordPress before and I was miserable, I hated the work. They pay isn't significantly higher that what I currently get paid.
I enjoy the work I currently do so I don't *really* want to leave, but it's just the weird micromanaging culture they've got here now that's frustrating (not my project, but I am part of their rigid SDLC thing that is supposed to make life easier for everyone, which it is not).
I don't think I can give it up for less than 5% salary increase and a technology that I hate working with (WordPress and React). -
lol retro isn't so bad anymore since I got a gun, now I can do dry fire training for 45 minutes out of the entire hour.

I once was subscribed to a subreddit dedicated to my country. It accurately reflects the 70-something average IQ of my country. Won't recommend.
-
@dontbeevil The issue seems intermittent, not sure. They told us to use the desktop version because the web app is unstable, but now they tell me to use the web app, because the desktop app is not synching. lol.
-
yeah i have co-workers like that. It's why I don't sit close to them at company get-togethers. I can't even understand them when they speak English.
-
@dontbeevil I did yes, it's a shitshow. Half of the versions aren't there and I am not the only person's whose notes are disappearing. IT support says everything looks fine. OneNote is rubbish.

Microshit! Microshit is going to lead to me quitting my current job. Fuck Microshit
-
Yup, I use it to make meta descriptions for content which the marketing people should technically do, and I always have to check the length of the string it puts out. It's always off, but still saves me so much time from having to come up with things myself. I need text with 160 or less characters, always gives me more. I'd rather have it summarise text for me, instead of me having to sit and read a boring AF blog post about things I have zero interest in.
It runs on statistics, not mathematical truth and logic. -
For the most part, I prefer Ubuntu over MacOS and Windows. I have some issues with Nvidia and audio drivers on Ubuntu, though, but I mostly use it to code on, not play games or anything else.
-
@Demolishun NICE. It's funny, because I work for a company that develops and sells psychometric assessments LMAO. This is beautiful.
-
@jestdotty I worked as a graphic designer in my 20s and it was just as toxic, if not more... Common denominator: PEOPLE.
-
fuck scrum. scrum can go kill itself.
-
please don't hug me.
-
we have the same type of thing. the reception lady sends out a designed email with random facts about the person whose birthday it is. I set up an email rule to just delete those.
-
@Demolishun we might have a mutual friend.
-
@Fast-Nop I agree. I blame JavaScript lmao.
-
Argh my boomer stepdad does this. Late at night when everyone is already half asleep.
-
@Demolishun modded Cities Skylines also really needs swap. Last time I ran mine I still had 16gb ram in my gaming PC, had it installed on a HDD and it took nearly 20 minutes to load a fairly populated city LMAO.
-
Yeah lol, when I started at my current job, they gave me a refurbished laptop with 8gb ram to work on running Windows 10 and said that should be enough for web dev. It wasn't. They then put in 16gb and it's barely enough. I recently got a new laptop with 16gb ram, i5 processor, running Windows 11 and it's slow as fuck. My personal PC has 32gb ram and I use Ubuntu to do dev work and it's fast enough not to piss me off.
Don't know why some companies cheap out on hardware for devs. We're just gonna work slower (: -
Option 2, but I'd probably do it with Composition API. I like it more.
Also, React sucks, fuck React. It made me angry the other day. -
too fucking short. at least the weather is better today.
