Now i fucking understand why nextjs does not have any design patterns. No folder structure for it either. Every project is fucking random and you need to learn every fucking project from scratch cause people stuff shit into different folders and file names1 -
fucking rude, that's what it is. Start chatting in a language not everyone in the room understands. It's also de quickest way to make me deslike you, even if I myself understand the language.

In my eyes it literally downgrade the speakers from humans to monkeys quasi permanently9 -
Do you guys eat at cafeteria at work?
Do you guys eat lunch alone at work?
I read a book called "Never eat alone" a while back yet I still eat alone everyday for the last 1 year because I'm burned out. No energy.
However, I now want to sit and talk to someone whom also always eats alone but I know that person. Which recently joined our company.17 -
We have gotten a rebranding 'document' that we have to implement. It contains 1 image, 4 colors and a new font excluding the font name. Nothing more.
How the fuck did the company pay so much for something so bare bones...3 -
Got an interview request for a new job. They mostly do WordPress. I don't want to touch WordPress.
Talked to the Project Manager woman on the phone about the job, seems decent.
Sounds like a nice place to work at, but I just can't do the WordPress thing, man.7 -
Is it just me or is anyone else not feeling very welcome if they have a jobinterview but the person doing the interview isn’t smiling the tiniest bit even. Just dead seriousness.5

Want to leave company due to insanely bad WLB
Don't wanna leave as wanna get to next step as manager someday, idk how else to become a manager other than be promoted to it
Big regrets8 -
You know its a good end of the work week, when you feel compelled to mention the Geneva convention in your last PR before logging off :)3

I have gotten some ridiculous rejections to my job applications recently - some of them were quite nit-picking gatekeeper sort of answers to the assignments like "oh you haven't used aria-label in a proper way" or "oh your error messages were not clear enough".
Then I see the same positions being open still after 5 months. This happened 4 times in a row. What is going on? Why do companies place job ads and waste time interviewing people, if they don't want to hire anybody? Am I missing something here? 🤔13 -
Today I was told I can't use the word retrofit in a sentence because I have to 'use words a nice year old would understand'
There's being an effective communicator and then there's becoming a soulless, creativity killing nazi13 -
Joke about Rust all you want, but Rust is the reason efficient programs are on vogue. When you see a web developer optimizing their JavaScript to make a smaller bundle, or a backend developer getting rid of dependencies, thank Rust for that.
I don't like Rust, I don't like their community, I don't like their superiority complex, but their existence is net positive so far.9 -
Why are some devs so insistent on doing a change one way when another works perfectly fine, is readable and maintainable and properly tested11

JS method names I still can't remember, even after 6 years of writing in it:
append is called concat,
any is called some,
all is called every,
contains is called includes
I always have to pause for a good long while or look it up when I need to use any of these is annoying, but my brain refuses to adapt to these names.4 -
Recently my work is just making designs for upcoming features / reworks that will probably take months to even start developing. I mentioned a few weeks ago again that I rather write code and now this sprint, it is 100% design tickets :(1

My tip for staying productive: **Don't**
Take a break. Take a few. Have a nap. Take a stroll outside. Enjoy life.
Life's too short. If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.
Fuck productivity.4 -
This is one of the coolest shader tutorials I have seen.
https://youtube.com/watch/...
It simply walks you through start to finish enhancing a weapon. I also found it can also be applied to 2D games as well. What I don't like is it is not setup to be generic. I will have to figure out how to make it be a weapon effect you can apply. I think having weapons provide a mask for where the shaders should be applied would make that possible. Then the generic effects can be applied to the weapons or removed. No need to have unique weapons of every type and for every effect.
This is the kind of tutorials that really get me going. When thinking of 2D I had not really thought about using shaders like this.4 -
does anyone else find it wild that there are hundreds or even thousands of products you've never heard of with over $1M+ ARR? this is just mind boggling to me4

Have you ever built games you've seen in movies?
I am just recreating some games (in a safe way for gamers) from the series on Netflix "Alice in Borderland"
My favorite game, is that each user chooses a number from 0 to 100. I don't whant to spolier the show :x1 -
I cant believe the project I'm working on does not use kubernetes or terraform. Not even docker. How is this multi trillion dollar project even in business?
I feel so sad for not having the opportunity to work with one of the most fundamental and most important technologies to know as a devops engineer... So sad
I cant advance or improve. Im just stuck in their ecosystem like Apple
This corporation is probably ran by 90 year old grandpa men from world war 1. However considering they are so large and still in business this gives me hope that anyone can make it even if you're stupid
Think about it
They are proof that you can run a giant business with hundreds of employees, not use k8s and the most modern devops technologies, and still operate just fine.
The devops code i have to maintain is older than the amount of years i exist. Its very messy and most of this shit is not even devops related. Its more of some kind of linux administrative tasks mixed with 3 drops of actual devops (bash scripts, ansible scripts, ci/cd pipeline)
And yet im paid more than i have ever been paid in any job so far
What should i do. Stay due to "high" money or..ask for a project with k8s. I put "high" in quotes because it is extreme luxury in my shithole country, im now among top 1% earners of the country, and yet i make less than 30k a year. With less than 30k a year i cant buy a good car but i can live very comfortably in my country. I cant complain about this salary since i think its finally enough to invest to get a chance to earn more and still have enough left to live comfortably.
Before i was just working to survive. Now im working to live. Its an upgrade.
Due to not working with difficult stuff like k8s i cant demand for more money. It wouldnt feel justified. I'm stuck here
What would u do9 -
It's a sad way to live, where you only want like-minded people around you.
Like you being a software developer only wanting to be around software developers.6 -
Fist day at new job. Supposedly I only came to pick a laptop. Been here for seven hours because the team leader wanted to meet and pass some instructions, and still a no show.
Not a very good omen…6 -
I don’t care. If someone wants to use something then that’s their problem.
Fucking linkedin spam to get me yellow badge like I am 12 or something.7 -
Why does your BS app (that is obviously made with electron because of course it is) feels entitled to put its garbage into my Documents folder?11
-
How is it, that features goes thru the entire mill of dev, staging, preview.
Then when deployed to production, things blow up..
Turns out, columns are nullable only in production DB and of course, those happen to be null in there.
If I had a dime for every time I’ve seen shit like this…
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻7 -
There's a senior dev at work who deflects and delays every project while working on his own freelance jobs most of the day. Fortunately, my performance is not tied to his.
Hero, or villain?7
