Recruiter contacts me on a software dev jobs platform because my profile looks great.
Job is for a fullstack JS developer and they use React, Node.js and some other stuff I've never touched.
Nowhere on my profile is any mention of React.
I thank him for reaching out and politely decline an interview by stating I have zero experience with React.
He says, oh, he thought I'd be willing to learn React since I know vue.js.
Why do people think learning a new JS framework is easy, and that devs who use a similar framework is willing to learn another one, and that "it's all just JS in the end"?
React is not just JS, it's fucking spaghetti. The React code I've read was cognitively demanding to decipher (or maybe I am low IQ lol), because it's not "just JS". It's a nasty spaghetti of HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.3 -
Client said the images need to be responsive and go full width.
Told her that would make the images massive and we should have a limit in height a cropping enabled.
She told me it should look nice with full width images uncropped.
Fucking designers said the same fucking thing.
Client today: Hey images are huge. Make sure they look nice.
*sigh*4 -
Recent signs for hating my self.
1. I use Gnome3 on every desktop without being violently forced.
2. I reject girl which bluntly asks me for hookup preferring wanking in loneliness.
3. I open linkedIn without any reason.
Point 3 is really concerning.2 -
Is it just me, or companies using the word “supercharge” is cringe? Supercharge your coding skills, supercharge your productivity, supercharge this, supercharge that. WTF does that even mean?8

Survived my second layoff at this company in less than 2 years. Feeling bitter sweet.
When I joined there was about 50 people here and now there is a little more than 15.
I think the way this company has done the layoffs have been humiliating to the people getting laid off. The “higher ups” will request that everybody be in the office for a company-wide meeting around noon. Then at around 11am that day, they will individual take people into conference rooms and lay them off. By the time the company-wide meeting starts, they’ve laid off all the people they needed.
Why lay people off infront of the whole rest of the company? I don’t see any reason5 -
Got an interview request for a new job. They mostly do WordPress. I don't want to touch WordPress.
Talked to the Project Manager woman on the phone about the job, seems decent.
Sounds like a nice place to work at, but I just can't do the WordPress thing, man.7 -
Since my wife left me i tried so hard to become an incel. But it just doesn't work. What is this shit.7

should I add it to my resume... what else can I put while in this thought field?5 -
"Non-technical" users must have some magic skill that goes beyond my understanding. How can anyone work with no-code page builders? I tried Wix, Webflow, Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi, and Semplice. Each one sucks in their way, but they have one thing in common: their UI behaves even more erratically than Microsoft Word.
Is there a "non-technical personal computer user" class where people learn that logic? How did they manage to hide their secret understanding from developers? Or what did I miss?10 -
The internet says "containers are the holy grail, it's cross-platform and you can run your images and get the same result everywhere"
The practice says: nope... it doesn't do thatrant containers architecture os myth cross-platform theory ordering practise filesystem devops platforms9 -
The final verdict is out. After almost 3.5 years im getting fired. Im relieved because i’ve been expecting this already since december. No matter how hard i try my mistakes aren’t excepted anymore.
Good thing there are three other companies i have interviews with.
Let’s hope for a new offer and smooth transition soon!11 -

I'm just so fed up with these constant updates and changes in the tech world. Can't we just stick to one thing for more than five minutes without it becoming obsolete! It's insane, makes me want to punch a wall am I right?9

I have gotten some ridiculous rejections to my job applications recently - some of them were quite nit-picking gatekeeper sort of answers to the assignments like "oh you haven't used aria-label in a proper way" or "oh your error messages were not clear enough".
Then I see the same positions being open still after 5 months. This happened 4 times in a row. What is going on? Why do companies place job ads and waste time interviewing people, if they don't want to hire anybody? Am I missing something here? 🤔13 -
what percentage of these dune hipsters haven't read a SINGLE word of any of the 6 books in the dune series (yes drooling losers, there are 6 of them)
I'm guessing > 90%
wow congrats you watched a 2 hour film, make it your entire identity 🤡
god the world has become ever decreasing cycles of cringe... they will decrease in time length until we reach unending - and therefore infinite - cringe

OpenAI is probably one of the most hypocritical companies in history. From the name, to how they copy other startups that build on top their platform, to how they use copyrighted material but prohibit others from using their model for training. I don;t understand how they are so celebrated when they engage in shady practices1

Social Media. I have had the same message for 16 years from Linkedin ‘4 people visited your profile’. I still don’t give a fuck. Got a twitter account shortly after it launched, I still think it’s totally pointless. Recently looked at Instagram as everyone keeps asking me for it. There is no point to that either. It’s all fucking pointless and just a way to pretend you have a superior life to other sad mother fuckers. God I hate social fucking media!7

What's worse than being your family's printer support? Questions about how to use Instagram. 🤢😠😡 Fuck Marc Suckerberg and his shitty antisocial media apps!11

Developer superstition, never say something is easy, fast or straightfoward.
It will take weeks to develop, months to test and debug and you will consider change jobs just to stay away of that code8 -
When I go to bed, I power off my laptop instead of just closing the lid. I don't bring my phone with me. I don't have a smartwatch. I sleep with no electronic devices with me.
Anyone can solve a lot of their problems by conversing with themselves one on one. Instead, they prefer a feed algorithm taking away their pain. But the nature of pain-relieving addictions is that they always intensify the pain in the long run.
Listen to yourself. Speak to yourself quietly, one on one, without mark zuckerberg in your room listening to your every word. The overwhelming pain will be no more after mere minutes. Only then can you be free.4
