I hope this is not illegal content, as I don't want to "Advertise" here but would like to share my first game on Steam with the community, as I am really proud of it.
There's a free playtest soon and dev opinions are much appreciated! Let me know guys what you think. https://store.steampowered.com/app/...3 -
If you opt out all forms of media for a year then talk to a hardcore facebook user; The dichotomy is extreme.1

Hey, guess what guys
The twitch ai just banned my account
Because it thought my account was ai
O the irony. 😹 😆 😂
What would you or should i say to the twitch devs or ai?3 -
now I'm becoming much more aware how I'm shadowbanned on YouTube...
I watch a lot of small channels and I literally can't talk to them, I just realized...
shaodwbanning means it's one way communication only. you have to listen to the propaganda box and you don't matter and can't give any feedback at all
I wanted to give some business takes on someone analyzing some companies, and I can't... because I'm in the propaganda box. I'm not considered a person who deserves a voice, on anything now, ever, for the rest of time. I'm just a receptacle
reminds me of the philosophical definition of objectification some feminist wrote about: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/...
instrumentality: the treatment of a person as a tool for the objectifier’s purposes;
denial of autonomy: the treatment of a person as lacking in autonomy and self-determination;
inertness: the treatment of a person as lacking in agency, and perhaps also in activity;
fungibility: the treatment of a person as interchangeable with other objects;
violability: the treatment of a person as lacking in boundary-integrity;
ownership: the treatment of a person as something that is owned by another (can be bought or sold);
denial of subjectivity: the treatment of a person as something whose experiences and feelings (if any) need not be taken into account
we are all irrelevant playthings to some narcissistic speakerboxes1 -
0h, saIesf0rce…
As they say, if it's n0t 0n saIesf0rce, it doesn't exist? SaIesf0rce presents itself as n0 Iess than a majestic d0g 0f Jupiter. But t0 be honest with y0u, it's I0wer even than a skunk, n0t worthy even t0 be called a d0g 0f PIut0!2 -
Just started playing Rust again after like 9 years and holy shit is this game not noob friendly at all
I play(ed) on a relatively chill server where raiding is only enabled in the last week before wipe every month and it's not too many people playing
So I'm out on adventure, I come back and my entire base is raided... Uhm okay, I did sort of have an uneasy feeling that I left the door open when I left so okay, my dumb mistake. Lesson learned: Always make sure doors are definitely closed
So I farmed hours more to get all my stuff back, repaired a vehicle, built a nice little garage, upgraded all my windows to reinforced windows so that nobody can interact with the car or my horse inside the house, just in case that allows you mount and get in the house that way, no clue
This day I log back in. Base completely cleaned the fuck out again
Actually what the fuck man. I did *everything* right, made sure every door is locked and closed, replaced all accessible windows with reinforced ones, had 27 days of upkeep materials and still, my entire progress of 10 hours of playing is gone again
What did I do wrong? After talking with people in chat apparently I had wooden frames for the doors, which apparently are just always destroyable by anyone... Even on a damn server where raiding is disabled. Yea sure makes sense
I like Rust but holy shit, this core game mechanic of raiding is still one I cannot get over. It's so stupid to be cleaned out over night while you're not even online. It's just fucking frustrating to start all over AGAIN farming and farming and farming. I didn't really want to play because the game always looked like a meta gaming sweat fest and this just proves that it's exactly that. You have to know every single meta game mechanic to even have your damn base survive overnight
On a positive note I did figure out that unity's concurrent garbage collection doesn't seem to be a big problem for a proper fps game though, so that's something4 -
fuck taxes, fuck you gov, you've done shit for me, actually, you're always assfucking me every fucking chance you get. So, yeah, I don't pay it in full, oh no, I put my shit where you can't find it, you fucking leech

What are your plans for the weekend, and if you weren't doing what you're doing now, what else do you think you'd be doing for work?

I’m learning Haskell and my mind is blown by how elegant functional programming is, it might take a while for me to get accustomed to FP but I can’t wait to get there. Thinking of making the 2048 game in Haskell as a learning exercise3

I applied for a position as an engineer for a nonprofit organization that helped kids across the country (and the world) and got the position. The people across the organization were wonderful and, without a doubt, mission driven to help kids and it felt good to do the work. The agile teams worked well together, every team had their roadmaps, and management always emphasized family first. The organization was making crazy money so we were given all the tools we needed to succeed.
Then, within a few months of my hiring, it was announced that the non-profit organization was being bought by a large, fairly well known for-profit company which had also been recently acquired by a venture capital firm.
The next thing we knew, everything changed all at once. We went from building applications for kids to helping this company either make money or build value for their owners. Honestly, I did not know what my day-to-day work was doing for this company. The executives would tell us repeatedly that we were expensive and not a good value compared to their other teams. It felt like we were only being kept until the systems were integrated and their had access to our decades of data.
You might think I'm being paranoid but a year after the acquisition, we still did not have any access to any of their systems. We operated on a separate source code solution and were not given access to theirs. When requests came from them that would facilitate them connecting applications to the data, it was to be considered highest priority.
The final straw for me was when I was told my compensation would be cut for the next year. We were strung along for the whole year leading up to it saying that the company was evaluating our salaries compared to others in the industry. Some of us figured that we would probably even go up knowing that we were underpaid for a for-profit tech company because we chose to work in a non-profit for a lower rate to be able to do worthwhile work. Nope! We were told that we were overpaid and they talked about how they had the data to prove it. One quick look at LinkedIn would tell you they must be smoking something that had gotten stale in a shoebox. Or they were lying.
So that was my rant. If you think you are protected from the craziness in tech right now just because you are writing code at a nonprofit, you might be wrong. Dishonest executives can exist anywhere.4 -
The older I get the more vindictive and intolerant of other people I get. Especially on the road. My passive aggressiveness is off the charts. Tailgaters piss me off the most. They can rot in hell. If you tailgate me I am going to take longer to pass. If you don't, I will speed up a bit and attempt to get out of the way faster. It is petty, but I am fucking done with these pieces of trash. Fuck you and the shit hole you came out of.
I have also found that smiling at the other driver is the worst thing you can possibly do to them. They can't say anything because you didn't flip them off.23 -
did anyone else get into programming because unlike a person when you get into an argument about who is right you can objectively prove it and prove it again and prove it sideways and up and the answer is gonna be always the same or your fault for testing it that way
and if not, why else2 -
I am witnessing Einsteins theory of relativity first hand, I’m amazed. The closer I get to Microsoft products, the slower my velocity becomes. At 9 PM, I have tried to connect a MS SQL Server to an ERP System for 30 minutes. After this piece of shit robbed me of all my energy, I look at the clock and it’s midnight. Go die in a dumpster fire Microsoft4
